Elizabeth Gamache

Colorado Artist

When I'm not arguing with computers in my day job as an IT professional in Education, Colorado's wilderness inspires my artwork. Through acrylic paintings, I capture nature's beauty from colorful sunsets to wild animals, using bold strokes and vibrant colors.

I've recently explored reverse painting on glass—a challenging technique that requires working backwards with layered colors, helping me grow as an artist. This medium really tests a person's patience and sanity with its unique hazards: shattered glass that sacrifices itself to the art gods, fingerprints that appear out of nowhere on supposedly clean surfaces, and the special joy of realizing you've layered colors in the wrong order when you're already three hours into a piece. Despite the occasional bandaged finger and muttered curses, the stunning results make the artistic obstacle course worthwhile.

Inspiration strikes while I'm huffing and puffing on trail runs or mountain bike rides through Colorado's wilderness. Nothing sparks creativity quite like oxygen deprivation at 11,000 feet! My art invites viewers to appreciate nature's extraordinary beauty around us.

Find my work at galleries in Cañon City (The Artists' Gallery, Driftwood and Clay Art Market), Florence (FloCo Gallery), Buena Vista (BV Photo and Art), and Leadville (Harperrose Studios).

·        Try oil painting, which will really test my patience levels

·        Create more personal art

·        Finally complete my art studio, moving beyond the "stack of supplies in the corner" phase

·        Return to trail running and mountain biking competitions where I'll dramatically sprint/pedal to make the cutoff time with seconds to spare

·        Continue to play and practice the violin, get more songs under my belt.

·        Be the best wife, mom, aunt, EVER!

·        Stay Alive.
